LORD Position Sensor Units are used to provide position reference information for fly-by-wire aircraft flight control systems. Our position sensors also measure angular speed and the information provided may include up to 10 position signals with redundancy without common failure mode. Our position sensor units make use of technologies such as rotary variable differential transformers (RVDT), linear variable differential transformers (LVDT), hall effect and resolver sensors.
For more than thirty years, LORD has delivered over one hundred thousand position sensors for use in FbW flight control systems, in both cockpit and surface position applications. All of this adds up to us having invaluable experience in both sensor design and field data on the use of such designs.
LORD has the technology, experience and capability to provide a more optimized unit in terms of system weight, cost, aircraft integration, reliability and maintainability. LORD position sensors are designed for safety with the inclusion of single or dual mechanical paths, different sensor types per unit, DAL A differentiation.
We are accustomed to working with both aircraft and system manufacturers in a collaborative environment. When coupled with our extensive and capable on-site test facility, LORD is able to support all fly-by-wire systems requirements, from development to certification, within the program schedule.
LORD is both an OEM and MRO solution provider - if you are owner or operator, please visit our MRO Services page.
Our position sensor units are also key fly-by-wire components in our integrated cockpit controls and inceptors.
