LORD electrical dampers for fly-by-wire flight control systems provide artificial force feel to pilots relative to pilot speed change; reducing pilot-induced oscillations (PIO) and slowing inadvertent moves. LORD engineers work with each customer to create requirements and can even add damper functions late in the aircraft development program.

LORD has delivered over 2,000 Pedal Damper Friction Units (PDFU) for fly-by-wire flight control systems, each with a MTBF of 416,000 FH. This adds up to us having invaluable experience on mechanical fuse design and field data of the use of such designs.
LORD provides yaw axis damper units for fly-by-wire flight control systems; offering a standard mechanical interface and mature electrical components, which have been logging flying hours for more than 20 years. We have created development tools and methods to provide a faster and more accurate design concept turnaround.
LORD also provides fly-by-wire damper units for either pitch or roll axis applications. Our extensive and capable on-site test facility allows us to fully support both development and certification. We also have defined all design rules and test capabilities to demonstrate compliance to any force law, enabling a turnkey solution.
